April Weather

Saturday the weather wasnt great, but I spent most of it basset-proofing the yard. 3 weeks until I go to Vegas to get Winston! So, to celebrate, here is Winston peeing in the snow. Right, now that we got that out our system, back to the blog.

Sunday I went down to Richmond to take a look at the castle there. So far, this is the coolest castle I have been in. While also mostly ruins, the tower is still in tact and is amazing. The majority of the outer wall is still there, and there is an awesome courtyard, garden, great hall, etc. It's starting to become baffling that so many castles were built so close together. Durham is about 15 miles NE of me, Raby is 10 miles NW, Walworth castle is about 5 miles west (its now a Best Western hotel if you're interested), Aukland castle is about 7 miles north, and Barnard castle is about 15 miles west. Other than the Best Western, these are all ran by the English Heritage. Now, by comparison, think about how far you have to drive to get from national monument to national monument in the US. All of that is this close, and all of the Great Britain (England, Wales, and Scotland) is only 80k square miles. For comparison, New Mexico is 121k square miles. In other words, I have a lot to see.

As far as Richmond, here are some pics.
