Sorry about the lack of posts. I have been busy with work, school, somewhat with getting my Mustang ready for paint, etc. etc. On the work front, I have been to Detroit, Monterry and Saltillo Mexico, Toronto, and New Mexico all within January. Spending a lot of time with the suppliers, taking a look at manufacturing lines and tooling, discussing future requirements and formulating timelines for product launches. I was only in the office about 7 days during the month of January. So, when I finally get a free minute at the end of the day, I am playing catch up on emails and phone calls. I am in NM now, very very sick, and am about to go to an after hours clinic. Flu season on top of lots of time in an airplane, I was due.
School: This semester I am taking Engine Project Management. The homework has been pretty straight forward so far, but requires a lot more time dedicated to talking on the forums. The forum discussions revolve around your experiences with previous engine launches. Unfortunetly, I am on my first launch, and am a product engineer, not a manager, so I dont know how to answer some of the higher level questions that are posed. The course is composed of 3 different graduating classes, so those closer to graduating and have more experience are doing a great deal more posting than my freshman class.
Car: The car is ready to be media blasted, shy of removing the chrome trim around the front and rear windows and masking glass. I am going to get a glass place in town to remove it so that I dont have to worry about damaging it in the process. I was able to borrow an industrial media blaster from a guy at work, so I am going to build a makeshift booth in my backyard and do teh job myself. On the engine side, I just got my heads and intake back after being ported and polished. They were gasket matched, and from what I understand, not much material was removed from the heads, as the ports were close to start with, but the manifold has a significant chunk taken away. The heads need to be decked and assembled, and shy of a valve train and gaskets, I will have the parts to put it all together.

You've got a project management course in a technical degree program? Weird.
