New Grill

While here, my dad bought me a new grill. It is really pretty amazing. You add charcoal to the tub around the smoker tube, and some in the cup on top of it. The meat/chicken/fish/turkey inside the smoker, with a drip tray at the bottom, and wood chips between the pan and the wall of the smoker for flavor. So, there is no heat generation inside the smoker, its all convection. The thing about this smoker versus the rest; its fast. We did 3 racks of ribs in an hour and 15 minutes. It did a 20 lb turkey in 2 hours. Most other things take somewhere between one to two hours. It made really good ribs and a great turkey. I bought some cherry and apple wood chips and will be smoking some other stuff as soon as I can finish off the holiday leftovers. If you want to pick one up, its made by Orion and is available at Home Depot for around $100.

I have a friend here who is really into smoking things. There is no end to the heckling we provide him whenever he says things like, "smoked meat," "flavor of the wood," and "dry rub."
