Suds Drive-In

Suds is an old drive-in diner north of here in Greenwood, just south of Indianapolis. Its not currently open, but it, and the area around it, still play host to a car gathering every Saturday night, weather permitting. I had not been going up there because I need paint, but decided to take it up there anyway. It was a pretty good time, just walking around taking a look at the other cars. The local Mustang Club of America was there showing their stuff off. Usually the only pre-73 cars that they have are bone stock, but they had one member with a 70 Mach 1 that has a few upgrades. I took some pics of the cars. The cars I was most impressed with were the pro-street cars. They are essentially very clean drag cars that are still streetable thanks to comparatively high (numerically low) gear ratios and a decent camshaft. This is essentially the direction I want to go with my car, except I don't plan on tubbing the rearend to get 15" wide slicks in, and as mentioned before, I would like to run it a couple of times at an autocross. Here's the link to the photo album. The Studebaker next to me is my friend Luke's Studebaker Lark III, factory supercharged.

What did people think of your car? Did it cause any topic of discusion(s) at the show?

Are those NM plates on the Studebaker?

Raven,
Yeah, I got a few people coming by and talking about it, but most of the time I was off wondering looking at other peoples' cars. Yeah, he is from NMSU as well. Luke is actually the one that recruited me to work for Cummins, and has been up here 2 years longer than me. Again, see how well the license thing is inforced?

Dan,
Sorry, no phoons. While I was up there with Luke, he was hauling around his 3 year old, so there wasnt much of an opperunity to get a phoon in.
