Post 3-- More car dilemma

As you can tell from the last two posts, I have nothing to do tonight. I mowed the yard, and grilled some salmon, but I am too sore from my day at the gym yesterday to do much else. So, I am blogging and enjoying 32 ounces of Mississippi Mud.

Car dilemma. I am considering selling the BMW. The reason: lack of funds to complete the job. Now, it may sound like a contradiction that I have been discussing getting a new car as a daily driver, and want to sell the BMW, but hear me out.

The BMW is going to require a lot of money to finish. This includes, but is not limited to, oil pump, oil pan, timing chain and gears, ignition system, suspension, transmission, transmission adapter components, rear gear carrier with limited slip, brakes, rims, tires, seat, wiring harness, fuel system, fuel injection system, wide body kit, seats, gauges, and probably a lot more stuff that I am forgetting. Pretty much everything except for the rolling chassis and the short block needs to be replaced. I don't think I would be far off to estimate that it needs around $15,000 in parts before it is ready to race. That is a lot of money over a long period of time for a car that will essentially take up space until its done. Bummer.

Alternatively, I can get rid of it, and make payments on a car that I can enjoy on a (near) daily basis, and use in events such as Auto-X on weekends. Also, having a reasonably efficient daily driver will allow me to do the long distance driving for cheaper than I have been doing in my truck. Driving to Minneapolis in the truck, getting 17 mpg was a bit rough. I suspect that more of this will happen with Raven moving to Detroit.

I need to sleep on it a bit more, but I think walking away from the project is the best thing to do. I still want to build a GT-3 car, but I think it would make more sense to do so when I have more money, and have completed my Mustang. Oh, and before you say "I should have kept the GTI," no, I shouldnt have. it was a fun car, but the payments on it were high, and selling it freed up the money to get a lot done to my Mustang that I would otherwise still be saving for. It did its job, which was get me through college after the '94 stang began to fall apart, and put a smile on my face when I got the chance to open it up.

Buy a motorcycle.

And put me in your will before you climb onto it. Dibs on the Mustang and your collection of WWE folding chairs.

I considered the motorcycle idea, as it would be great for commuting back and forth to work, but would be less than ideal for cross-country trips.

I think the only piece of wrestling paraphernalia I own is the homemade Hulkamania belt from when I went as Hulk for Halloween back at NMT. I was hoping to be buried with it, but if it means that much to you, I understand.
