Venice

Last weekend I went to Venice with my friend Sam (from Indiana). Venice is just as beautiful as people say, but nowhere near as romantic. If you do fork out the 90 Euro or so for a gondola ride, you will have tourists (like us) taking pictures of you from every bridge down every street, because it makes for good pictures. If you go there, and you want a gondola ride without the price tag, take a gondola ferry across the grand canal, they're only 0.50 Euro, and last just long enough to take a photo.

Venice is also VERY confusing. The first thing I did when we got off the bus was buy a map, and we used the thing to no end. Even still, getting lost was the norm, because the streets are poorly marked. But, even when you get lost, your still wondering down some picturesque alley.

While there, it poured on Saturday. It actually started flooding in areas, which is wierd for a flooded city. Otherwise, good weather.

Avian flu is apparently not a concern in St Mark's square. Most of the tourists enjoyed posing with pigeons. We passed. However, we did figure out that Sam's camera would make people appear translucent if they were moving while trying to take a night photo.
