Heat Fixed
I got my heat fixed. As I had previously wrote, my thermostat went out. I installed a new one, but had to fight with it for some time. The new thermostat did not require all of the same wires to be hooked up that the previous one did. However, one wire that I had, that it did not mention, did need to be hooked up, and hell if i could figure out where it went. I went back and forth with different combinations, based on the holes in the instruction booklet, which either resulted in no heat coming out, or a great deal of heat, and the thermostat not cutting it off once the set temperature was reached. I kept the wires set to the heating configuration, and would throw the breaker in the garage when I didn't want it on as a temporary fix. I called the tech support line and found out that my system was not compatible with the thermostat I had purchased. I got the 6800, and needed the 7400 or the 7500, so really what he was trying to say was, "you need to spend more money." I installed the right one, and to my surprise, nothing worked. Thus ends my attempt at being an HVAC technician.
I tried to go to the Carrier service office by my office to schedule a technician to come work on it around noon on a Wednesday. I got out, looked in the window, and there was a guy sitting there at his desk . I walked around, tried to open the door, and it was locked. I knocked, and no one answered. I walked back around to the window, and the guy at his desk just starred at me, so I got in my truck and left, realizing he was not familiar with the "every customer" mindset. I was able to call another service company, and setup a time for him to come. He pinpointed when he would be at my house within 10 minutes, and was there on time! He looked at my system, said I had wired everything right, then poked around in the heat pump and the compressor. He found a wire in the compressor had rubbed up on a copper tube, and replaced it, noting that this was probably the reason why my first thermostat had gone out. The damage was $85 for a tech to come out and locate a frayed wire, but for the timely service I received, I think it was well worth it. The problem is that now that the heat is fixed, its almost time to kick on the A/C.

Dan,
It didnt work properly for about 2 weeks, but I did have heat. I just had to throw a circuit breaker when I didnt want it.
Raven,
Negative, I kicked him out after he left a pot of chicken unattended on the oven, and filled the house with smoke, and could have potentially burned it down. I havent had a roomate for a while, but I may have one moving in this week. Just in time to finish my cars off and get them racing.

Throwing a breaker whenever you want heat? That's livin' the double-wide life!

That is why I spent $85 to have a frayed wire repaired.
