Last night my thermostat went out. This happened right when I was about to go to bed, so every place that sold thermostats was closed. I just let my faucets run to prevent freezing, and went to bed. It is
absolutely freezing here, and of course, more snow fell last night. So this morning I made a trip to
Lowes and got a new programmable thermostat. After getting it installed and up and running, I got a pic of the inside temp (no, its not 68). Pretty miserable. So while waiting for the house to warm up I decided to give my fireplace a try. I have lived in this house for 20 months and I have never once turned it on. There is a propane tank in my back yard which fuels it, and has been at 20% since moving in. So I read the instructions on how to light the thing a few times

and kicked it on. It's pretty nice. It
definetly makes a difference when the house is this cold, I will have to try it again when I feel like the living room just needs to be bumped up a few degrees.

as you may be aware, make sure the propane tank doesnt go below some minimal percentage
