Back to the Track

I have started drag racing, again. After 5 years of inactivity in college, I got my Mustang back to the track. My best with a 14.0 @ 96 mph. A bit disappointing, but its justified because of the fact that I had a 2 second 60 foot time. I ordered a pair of slicks before the raceday, knowing that traction would be a problem. Unfortunetly, the rims made it in before raceday, but the tires didnt, and I ordered them at the same time from the same place, go figure. My first launch, I launched at 3,000 rpm and got sideways and had to let off and coast down the track. After that, I launched at 1,500 rpm, but still spun like crazy. I race again this Saturday and Sunday, and hope to shave 3 to 4 tenths off of my 60 foot time, and about a full second off of my elapsed time with my slicks on. I just don't want to run faster than a 12.99, because I do not have the SFI certified components necessary to run that fast. Also, that gets me to the point that I need a roll cage. I entered the points race, and am running in the Pro class. For more info on where I'm racing, etc, check out www.irponline.com

here are some pics

I had a loose rocker arm, so I got a picture of the engine with the valve covers off.
