The brand new Cummins ISF engine is taking another significant mission as it is exclusively powering Ollin Le Mans Truck Rally – the Chinese version of the renowned Le Mans Grand Prix of Endurance that was originated from France.According to the organizer, China Automobile Sports Federation, Ollin Le Mans is the first light-duty truck endurance rally in the world, and is expected to draw wide attention from the public.Foton Motor, China’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, is the exclusive race truck provider and the specified type for the Rally is an Ollin-branded truck powered by Cummins ISF 3.8L engine.The brand new ISF engines produced in Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Company, a 50/50 joint venture between Cummins and Foton, are the latest addition to Cummins extensive range of dependable engines. The ISF engines are embedded with Cummins key technologies, including air handling technology, electronic controls, combustion optimization, Cummins filtration and emissions solutions, all of which have contributed to the ISF advantages of more power, more reliability and durability, and more operational savings from an optimized lighter and cleaner package.The Truck Rally will be an ideal platform to test the power and performance of Cummins ISF engine. The 12 hours of Rally will run on a circuit containing closed public roads that are meant not only to test a truck and driver’s ability to be quick, but also to last over a 12 hour period. Each truck will have three drivers shifting for a 12-hour journey. All the fuel refill, tire replacement, repair and maintenance are counted within the 12 hours. The truck that accumulates the longest driving distance in the 12 hours will win.Starting on March 24, Ollin Le Mans Truck Rally will first hold preliminaries in every province in China, then the winner of each province will attend regional semifinals in four regions. The top two teams from each region will then enter the final competition. The champion, runner-up and third-place will all be awarded a special prize – a Foton Ollin LD Truck powered by a Cummins ISF engine.
